Chris Votek, Ustad Zakir Hussain, and Neelamjit Dhillon at the Premier of “Triple Concerto for Tabla, Bansuri, and Sitar” in Mumbai, India (2023)

Deeply passionate about blending Indian classical music with Western traditions, Chris Votek merges the emotive melodies of Hindustani music with intricate rhythms alongside tabla player Neelamjit Dhillon. Together, they present Indian music concerts and workshops as one of the world’s only cello + tabla duos and arrange symphonic music for East / West hybrid ensembles, notably multiple collaborations with tabla master Ustad Zakir Hussain.

Chris also works as an all-genre session and touring cellist in Los Angeles while composing music for film, arranging commercial music, and operating his studio / live sound company Echo Manor.
